White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Tuesday confirmed that Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) stopped $50 million-worth in taxpayer dollars from paying for condoms in Gaza. This comes after Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced a foreign aid freeze and a separate memo from the Office of Management and Budget indicated at federal aid pause.

Leavitt added that the condom-gate was exposed as a result of the pause in federal funding for a range of federal efforts, including foreign aid payments. “DOGE and OMB also found that there was about to be $50 million taxpayer dollars that went out the door to fund condoms in Gaza. That is a preposterous waste of taxpayer money,” the Donald Trump press secretary said.
