This weekend is Valentine’s Day, Presidents’ Day, and it is also your chance to get involved in a citizen science project. That’s right, this weekend is the Great Backyard Bird Count.
This project allows people around the world to help scientists see how birds are adapting to a changing climate by getting outdoors and recording the birds they see.
What Is The Great Backyard Bird Count?
The Great Backyard Bird Count was launched in 1998 by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society. Since then, other organizations, including Birds Canada, have joined in the mission to be the world’s largest biodiversity-related participatory science project.
