For most of the country, the week will bring a welcome break from the successive snowstorms seen last week. There may be a reprieve from major snowstorms, but the lake-effect snow machine will continue to generate moderate to heavy amounts of snow in some spots downwind of the Great Lakes.

Lake effect snow keeps on coming

Cold air crashing into the central part of the country early in the week will sweep over the relatively warmer and wide open waters of the Great Lakes to produce periods of at least moderate lake effect snow downwind of the lakes. Only 10.9% of the Great Lakes reported sice cover on Friday.
