For much of the country, the weather pattern is entering a quieter stretch over the next 24 hours. A large area of high pressure is settling in across the Lower 48, acting almost like a lid on the atmosphere. In simple terms, it is limiting the warm, humid, unstable air that usually helps fuel widespread thunderstorms and heavy rain this time of year.
That means many areas across the U.S. will enjoy a quieter stretch through midweek. But there are still a few important exceptions, and for South Florida in particular, the concern remains localized flooding.
