PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Airline ticket prices are up and continuing to climb, and a Phoenix travel agent says travelers shouldn’t expect relief any time soon.
Olja Muursepp, a Phoenix-based travel agent, said ticket prices are soaring.
“So they’ve been up probably about 30% and kind of creeping up,” Muursepp said.
Fuel costs driving the increase
Muursepp said rising jet fuel costs are a key factor. She pointed to conflict in Iran and concerns about the Strait of Hormuz—a key route for global oil shipments—as contributing to higher costs for airlines.
“U.S. carriers, they do not pre-buy their jet fuel. So they’re very vulnerable for the price jumps up and down,” Muursepp said.
