American Airlines passengers evacuate onto plane wing after jet catches fire following safe landing in Denver | News World

Passengers on an American Airlines jet have been forced to climb onto one of the plane’s wings after it caught fire following a safe landing and taxiing at Denver International Airport in the US state of Colorado.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said American Airlines Flight 1006 from Colorado Springs landed in Denver about 5:15pm, local time, on Thursday.

Several dramatic videos showed passengers standing on the wing of the plane before evacuating as smoke poured out the engine.

“After landing safely and taxiing to the gate at Denver International Airport (DEN), American Airlines Flight 1006 experienced an engine-related issue,” the airline said in a statement.
