A polar vortex continues to bring Arctic air from Canada from the northern Plains to the Gulf Coast. Wind chills will be well below zero for many, and this will last into the weekend.

Another Arctic blast

An Arctic blast from a polar vortex is bringing frigid air from Canada south into the northern Plains and even near the Gulf Coast. This cold air will last through the week and could bring the coldest temperatures on record for this late in the winter. For many, this will be the coldest polar vortex this season.

Below zero temperatures can be expected as far south as Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee and Kentucky. Over 100 million people are under extreme cold warnings and advisories from the Canadian border to New Orleans. Wind chills in the northern Plains could…more
