A Very Promising Comet!
The MAPS comet was discovered a few months ago by a group of French amateur astronomers based in Antibes, in the Alpes-Maritimes region. Since then, it had generated great expectations among astronomers and space enthusiasts, especially because of its potential to become a “Great Comet,” that is, a comet visible from Earth.
This comet was identified at the end of March as a low-inclination comet belonging to the Kreutz family, a group whose perihelion lies very close to the Sun.
