The city of El Paso just let a 727 jet airliner go for less than the price of a cheap used car. Oddly enough, it was probably the best deal the city could make.

Big ‘ole, jet airliners … cue Steve Miller … are a little on the pricey side. This one will set you back about $850,000. Not bad, huh?  The city of El Paso just let a used one go for $10K.

Granted, it was a bit of a fixer upper …

Listed at govdeals.com as being in pretty bad shape, it was defined as being “not airworthy, in derelict condition and needing repairs that exceeded its value”. Nonetheless, somebody dropped $10,132.20 on the 1966 727 that was once owned by the U.S. Marshals Service. Yep, it was once “Con Air” … see pics here.

No payments for storage had been paid to the city of El Paso since the 727’s owner died after a plane crash about 20 years ago. The city of El Paso routinely sells off surplus goods.
