After years of anticipation, Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter) has finally introduced widgets for iOS, allowing users to pin live updates and shortcuts to their Home Screen and Lock Screen. The move comes more than five years after Apple first teased a Twitter widget during the launch of iOS 14 at WWDC20 a feature that never materialised until now. The Home Screen widget closely resembles the one teased back in 2020, though without the background image originally shown. For many users, this rollout marks the fulfillment of a long-standing promise, finally aligning X with other major social apps that have embraced iOS widget functionality.
