Climate change is still a huge crisis right now, but scientists claim to have spotted something odd about how the Earth “self-corrects” in the long term.
A fresh study by researchers at the University of California, Riverside suggests our planet can cool itself too hard after warming, which could potentially tip into an ice age.
The work plugs what the researchers say is a missing feedback in the carbon cycle. And it might help explain why some of Earth’s ancient ice ages were so extreme that ice and snow covered almost everything.
