WEST CHESTER, Ohio (WKRC) — A local family is helping kids living with vision impairment all over the country.
Joey Hintz, a young boy from West Chester, was born with a vision condition called nystagmus.
“It’s an eye condition where your eyes, what we say, are called ‘dancing eyes.’ So, that limits his ability to see things in the distance,” said Joey’s dad, Eric Hintz.
The family discovered that an iPad, equipped with a magnifying app and zoom features, could significantly help him learn and communicate.
Joey Hintz showed Local 12 how the magnifying app works.
“I can’t read this, but with this app, I can zoom in, and now I can read it,” said Joey Hintz.
He said that it helps with his schoolwork.
