Even as a historic March heat wave surges into the weekend, peaking on Saturday, snow will fall in portions of the United States. Almost half the states in the country could see record heat while snow sticks in the north.
A historic heat wave will continue to rewrite the record books across several states this weekend. At least 23 states could experience record heat on Saturday. Temperature records could tumble as far east as North Carolina on Sunday, as several million people experience dangerous levels of heat.
As the third week of meteorological spring comes to an end, unprecedented temperatures will make it feel more like summer for a large part of the U.S. A little more than 6 million people will face moderate to extreme HeatRisk on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. That number drops to around 8 million by Sunday.
