According to The Kathmandu Post , the Nepalese government has announced a significant increase in the cost of Everest climbing permits, along with other measures aimed at easing congestion in the region, protecting the environment and strengthening safety on the mountain. The fee will rise from $11,000 to $15,000 during the spring period (March to May) for foreign climbers taking the usual southern route.

Starting in September 2025, the cost of obtaining a permit to climb Mount Everest will rise to $15,000 as part of an effort to restrict access to the world’s highest peak. This increase is part of a broader revision of climbing fees and regulations aimed at managing the growing number of climbers and improving safety measures.
