Music Theatre International has announced that “How to Dance in Ohio” is now available for professional and amateur licensing. MTI had previously announced the acquisition of the rights to the 2023 Broadway musical.
Based on the Peabody Award-winning documentary of the same name (directed by Alexandra Shiva) and with a book and lyrics by Rebekah Greer Melocik and music by Jacob Yandura, “How to Dance in Ohio” follows a group of autistic young adults and their families as they prepare for a spring formal dance. The show opened at the Belasco Theatre on Dec. 10, 2023, and ran through Feb. 11, 2024. It received a special 2024 Drama Desk Award for its authentic representation team’s efforts in presenting neurodiversity onstage.
