Indulge in the serene flavors of a Matcha Breakfast Brûlée, a delightful twist on the classic French dessert. This recipe combines the rich, earthy tones of matcha with creamy custard, offering a perfect start to your day.

Ingredients:

    • 2 cups heavy cream
    • 1 cup milk
    • 4 large egg yolks
    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar, plus extra for caramelizing
    • 2 tablespoons matcha green tea powder
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • A pinch of salt

Instructions:

Preheat Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 325°F (163°C). Prepare a baking dish by filling it with water; this will create a gentle steam for cooking the custard.

Mix Ingredients: In a saucepan, combine heavy cream, milk, matcha powder, and 1/2 cup sugar. Warm over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, but do not boil. Remove from heat.

Whisk Egg Yolks: In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Gradually add the warm cream mixture to the yolks, whisking constantly to prevent curdling.

Strain and Pour: Strain the mixture through a fine sieve into ramekins to ensure a smooth texture. Place the ramekins in the prepared baking dish, then carefully fill with water until halfway up the sides of the ramekins.

Bake: Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the custard is just set. Cool to room temperature and then refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

Caramelize Sugar: Before serving, sprinkle a thin layer of sugar on top and use a kitchen torch to caramelize until golden. Allow to cool slightly before enjoying your zen-infused breakfast delicacy!
