Microsoft is expanding its investment in Mount Pleasant. The tech company is interested in investing billions more dollars into its new data centers. The investment would include acquiring 1,030 acres in Mount Pleasant from the Village of Mount Pleasant and Foxconn. The company invested $1 billion earlier this year. Microsoft bought 315 acres of land from Foxconn at that time. Construction is already underway on the data centers on this property. The data centers store Microsoft’s digital data, data storage drives and network equipment. Microsoft wants to develop a $1B, 315-acre data center campus in Mount Pleasant. Microsoft is interested in acquiring and developing all of the land lying south of Braun Road, north of County Highway KR, east of the Canadian Pacific Rail right-of-way and west of 90th Street in TID (Tax Incremental District) 5.If its new expansion is approved by the Village and Racine County, Microsoft will own a total of 1,345 acres in Mount Pleasant, making the company the largest landowner in TID No. 5. About $16 million of the proceeds from the sale that would be due to Foxconn will be retained by the Village to fund payments owed by Foxconn. Microsoft has also committed $4.2 million to restore 1.5 miles of Lamparek Creek, $100,000 for water restoration projects and $200,000 to United Way of Racine County.
