The first U.S. Drought Monitor report of July reveals just over 32% of the United States is currently enduring drought conditions. That is an increase of nearly 2% compared to a week ago and a rise of almost 6% compared to the start of this year. Most striking is that the area of the country now experiencing drought is 73% larger than at this point last year.
