Working in the movie industry helped prepare Chandler resident Kevin Phipps for his role as co-creator of the “Shadowblade” comic book and now he’s laying the foundation for a movie with the work.

He started out in the comic book industry as a colorist at a design company before moving to Los Angeles, where he has worked as an assistant director and director.
