Artificial intelligence (AI) has been advancing lately in all areas of our lives, but few of us imagined it could be finding caves on the Moon.
Using public images from NASA, AI has uncovered two undiscovered structures on the Moon that could be cave openings. The prospect of finding entrances to caves on the Moon is significant for future space missions involving human settlement and survival on the Moon.
A PhD researcher at the University of Kent, Daniel Le Corre, surveyed less than 0.3% of the lunar surface before uncovering the two pits – or potential cave openings.
