In a new article published in the journal PLOS ONE, a palaeontologist from LMU München reveals a new predatory dinosaur from North Africa through research spurred on by previously unknown photographs.

The fossil’s original skeleton was described by the Munich palaeontologist Ernst Stromer von Reichenbach (1871-1952) and was excavated in 1914 on an expedition to Bahariya Oasis, Egypt. Shortly after its discovery and excavation it was sent to Stromer in Munich and stored with other dinosaur fossils from Egypt in the Bavarian State Collection for Paleontology and Geology ( located in the Old Academy building).
