Carlos Colon The C-124 mishap found on Colony Glacier was a plane that crashed into Mount Gannett in 1952, carrying 52 service members on board that were PCS-ing from McChord Air Force Base to Elmendorf. They encountered weather that they couldn’t navigate and ended up crashing into Mount Gannett. The Department of Defense at the time initiated search and recovery efforts, which they continued for several weeks, but eventually had to abandon because they were not finding any remains. They made it to where they believed the crash happened, but they did not encounter any remains.
