An active storm system is sweeping across the U.S., delivering widespread rain in the South, pockets of snow in the East, and a fresh surge of Arctic air right behind it.

Rain and Thunder Roll Through the South
A low-pressure system moving east toward the southern Appalachians is pulling warm, moisture-rich air straight out of the Gulf of Mexico. That setup is already producing widespread rain across the South early today, along with some more organized thunderstorms near the Gulf Coast.
