Complex weather events are unfolding across the country as a large pool of Arctic air with dangerously cold temperatures continues to move southward. At the same time, a series of weather systems are impacting various regions, bringing snow, sleet, and freezing rain.

Snow and sleet: Low pressure system moving South

A low-pressure system is developing along the stationary Arctic front over the central and southern High Plains. Widespread upslope snowfall will spread from the northern Rockies into the High Plains, and by this afternoon, the snow will intensify, especially in areas like eastern Oklahoma, Arkansas, and southern Missouri.

This low-pressure system, with the support of a jet stream, will cause snowfall to accumulate. By Wednesday morning, areas in this zone could see anywhere from 6 inches to locally a foot of snow…more
