Winter is making a fast but fierce appearance across the eastern U.S. as a quick-moving clipper system sweeps through. Snow totals won’t be huge for most places, but don’t let that fool you — strong winds, sudden snow squalls, and bitter cold will make this system one to take seriously.
Fast Snow, Sudden Whiteouts
As a strong cold front races through the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and central Appalachians, snow showers will move in quickly. Most areas will pick up 1 to 3 inches of snow, with a bit more in the usual trouble spots — areas downwind of the Great Lakes, higher elevations in the Appalachians, and parts of coastal New England.
