Tropical Storm Jerry has gained a bit more strength today as it races west-northwest across the Atlantic, on track to pass very near or just northeast of the northern Leeward Islands late Thursday into Thursday night.
The system continues to organize even as strong upper-level winds challenge its structure, and according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), it could reach hurricane strength by the Friday.
A Quick Look at Jerry
As of late Wednesday morning, Jerry was located about 750 miles east-southeast of the northern Leeward Islands, moving quickly toward the west-northwest at 23 mph. Maximum sustained winds are up to 60 mph, and the storm’s center pressure has dropped slightly to 1003 millibars — a sign it’s organizing.
