Record-challenging warmth returns Wednesday across the Southwest and Plains, but elevated to critical fire weather looms per the Storm Prediction Center, while clippers and another system deliver accumulating snow from the Midwest through the Northeast.
Much of the country will be unseasonably warm on Wednesday, even spring-like, as temperatures climb well above normal. Afternoon temperatures in the southern Rockies, Southwest, Four Corners, and southern plains will be as much as 10 to 20 degrees or more above average. Several new record highs could be set in many of those regions.
