Alaskan officials have confirmed that the remnants of Typhoon Halong have caused widespread destruction across western Alaska. Authorities reported one death and two people missing, while more than fifty others were rescued, including several pulled from rooftops. The typhoon’s powerful winds, storm surges, and floodwaters have swept away several homes across the region. According to Alaska State Troopers, a woman was found dead, and two people remained unaccounted for in Kwigillingok.
Alaska state troopers said at least 51 people and two dogs were rescued in Kipnuk and Kwigillingok after the storm system walloped the communities. Both areas saw significant storm surge.
