The Ukrainian security service claimed a new strike on the Belbek Airfield in Crimea had destroyed hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of Russian military equipment, including a MiG-31 fighter jet loaded with weapons, two long-range Nebo-SVU radar detection systems, a 92N6 radar, and a Pantsir-S2 air defense missile system.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) said long-range drones from its Alpha Special Operations Center conducted the strike on December 17, which hit the air base in the Crimean port city of Sevastopol. Newsweek could not immediately verify the claims, but the SBU provided images that it said were from footage of the attack.
