FARGO — Some of North Dakota State University’s best and brightest may hold the answer to farmer’s public enemy No. 1 — weeds.

Engineering students and researchers are taking part in the annual “Farm Robotics Challenge.” Tough competition from college students from around the globe who are being tapped to solve some real-world agriculture challenges.

Even in a spring snow on Tuesday, NDSU students, from undergrad to doctoral students, are happy to show off their masterpiece. A robot they designed and built on campus.

“I think this will revolutionize technology for farming and our aim is to make it cost efficient for farmers so they don’t have to buy so much heavy equipment,” Rafat Safayet, an NDSU master’s degree student in Ag Biosystems…
