This week’s weather brings a mix of storm hazards, flash flood risks, and dramatic temperature swings. Residents are urged to stay alert as conditions shift, particularly in areas vulnerable to flash flooding and severe storms. At the same time, much of the country will experience a classic October transition marking the deeper arrival of the autumn season.
Cold Front Brings Storms and Flooding Risk to the East
Showers and thunderstorms will continue through Tuesday evening along a strong cold front stretching from the Interior Northeast, through the Lower Great Lakes and central Appalachians, and into the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys.
With high atmospheric moisture in place, locally heavy downpours are expected.
