Houston’s weather is on a rollercoaster ride. Sunday felt more like May than March. A dramatic drop in temperatures today is making it feel like the middle of winter. Record heat is possible as soon as Saturday.
Houston has been riding a warm streak since the start of February. The final month of meteorological winter was just over 6 degrees above average, matching the average temperatures for March. March is now running nearly 10 degrees above average, warmer than the average temperature for April. Around 81% of days since February 1 have been above average.
Houston’s warm streak stretches back much further than just February. The city experienced its warmest winter on record, along with record warmth for every multi-month period ending in February, from the past 4 months to the past 12 months, as well as the past 18, 24, 36, 48, and 60-month periods.
