United Airlines is set to raise its bag check fee by $10 on Friday, the latest hike for travelers as airlines struggle to cope with the soaring cost of fuel.
Going forward it will cost $45 for those who pay in advance to check a bag on a domestic flight, and $50 for people who pay within a day of their flight, according to CNBC and other news outlets.
Although representatives for United did not immediately respond to inquiries, many reports noted the timing. JetBlue Airways increased bag check prices earlier this week, citing the ongoing Middle East war that’s convulsed global oil markets.
