MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – If you have been embarrassed by your Gmail address for years, there is some good news.
Google is now letting many users change their primary Gmail address – without losing access to their old one.
The company says you can go into your Google account settings, tap manage your google account, then personal info, then email, and look for change Google account email.
If you do not see the option yet, Google says it is still rolling out.
Your old address does not go away.
It stays active as a backup, and emails sent to either address will go to the same inbox.
You can also switch back if you change your mind.
But there is a catch.
Once you change your address, you are locked in for a year before you can change it again, and Google only allows three changes total.
