Through Sunday and the upcoming week, temperatures are rising once again across the western half of the country under a high-pressure ridge. Though temperatures will not be as hot or as long-lasting as the recent March heatwaves, there is still a chance for multiple temperature records to fall.
The heat will act to intensify drought conditions and continue to melt the snowpack across western states as well. This is all leading to increasing concern about the upcoming fire risk as well as the water supply.
High Pressure Builds Again
Through Sunday, much of the heat will be centered over California and the Southwest. Temperatures are expected to be 5 to 20 degrees above average for many from the coast to the desert.
