They outpaced record-low temperatures by nearly 11 to 1 during the first month of meteorological spring. Two historic heat waves that hit in March helped drive the large number of locations that experienced record heat.
Colorado was one of several southern states that saw temperatures soar to summer levels. The state alone had nearly 1200 record highs either tied or broken during March.
