The 2026 Europe Report of the Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change, published in The Lancet Public Health, brings together the work of 65 experts from 46 institutions to analyze 43 key indicators that directly connect climate and health. As The Lancet indicates, it is the most comprehensive analysis to date of how global warming is already affecting the daily lives of millions of people in Europe.
Some 99.6% of European regions are recording more heat-related deaths than in the 1990s, while dengue risk has already increased by almost 300%. Added to this is the fact that mosquitoes are moving farther north as temperatures rise.
