A powerful spring weather pattern is unfolding across the United States as a cold front pushes through the southern Plains, triggering widespread thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and the threat of severe weather.
Meteorologists are closely monitoring a strengthening line of thunderstorms developing along a cold front moving through the southern Plains. The greatest concern remains across north-central Texas, where there is an enhanced risk for severe thunderstorms through tonight.
Severe Weather Threat Expands East
Heavy rainfall is expected to accompany the strongest storms. Repeated downpours could quickly overwhelm drainage systems and create localized flash flooding, particularly in urban areas, along roadways, near small streams, and in low-lying locations.
The Weather Prediction Center continues to maintain a slight risk for flash flooding across portions of north-central Texas.
