Fire weather like this is becoming more common across most of the country, particularly in the West.
Nearly a million people across portions of Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Alaska were under a red flag warning at the start of the week. “Any fires that ignite will spread rapidly and become difficult to control or suppress,” cautioned the National Weather Service. “A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.”
