According to the latest updates, at least 11 hantavirus cases have been confirmed among people onboard the MV Hondius. According to NBC News, passengers, including Americans, from the Hondius have disembarked and are now isolated in various countries to prevent the spread of hantavirus. American and global health officials are warning that cases could increase further.
When Did the Hantavirus Start?
The Dutch-flagged MV Hondius, a cruise ship, departed Argentina on April 1, heading to Cape Verde with nearly 150 people aboard for a remote nature-sightseeing expedition. The first cases were identified when passengers became ill aboard the MV Hondius.
