Southwestern parts of the country are watching as fire weather conditions take hold this weekend. From California to Texas, windy and dry weather is expected Saturday through Monday.
All of this is setting up a dangerous stretch, especially if new fires start, as they may become difficult to control. People should take caution to avoid any activities that could cause new fires to start over the coming days.
The highest risk on Saturday, according to the Storm Prediction Center, lies in an area from New Mexico to Texas where critical fire weather is expected, and dry lightning could start new fires that are likely to be fuelled by the dry, windy conditions.
