The weekend weather pattern will be active as multiple systems sweep across the country. The result will be summer-like, moist air being drawn northward into the central U.S, that will fuel strong to severe thunderstorms.
Sizzling heat on Saturday and Sunday is expected to impact several million people this weekend. The number of people facing moderate to major Heat Risk, levels two and three out of four, will rise significantly through the weekend almost tripling to just over 91 million by Sunday.
Most of the major HeatRisk will target northern Texas and western Oklahoma. “Health systems likely to see increased demand with significant increases in ER visits,” in the regions impacted by this type of heat, according to the National Weather Service. High temperatures should hit 100 degrees in a few spots.
