The weather pattern, named for the Greek letter omega, will continue into June. This pattern keeps cool air locked in place for some and hot air for others, as well as redirecting storms in different ways.
An omega block weather pattern will continue its holder over the Continental US. This will result in cool and dry conditions along the coasts and the South and very warm and very dry conditions for the North-Central US. Slow-moving systems will increase flood risks in the South, according to the NWS.
