The National Hurricane Center says environmental conditions are favorable for further development, and a tropical depression is expected to form within the next 24 to 48 hours as the system continues moving westward or west-northwestward at around 10 mph.
National Hurricane Center specialists have assigned the disturbance an 80% chance of tropical cyclone formation during the next two days and a 90% chance within the next seven days, making it the most likely candidate to become the first named storm of the eastern Pacific hurricane season.
