NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – An 18-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her recent ex-boyfriend when he went to her Hollygrove home last Sunday to drop off her iPad.
According to police records, when officers responded to a call in the 9000 block of Peach Street on May 24, they pronounced Ramaya Silvan dead at the scene. They also found 20 spent rifle casings and a discarded iPad.
Daniel Romero, 20, was booked into the Orleans Justice Center on one count of second-degree murder in Silvan’s killing.
Friends identifying Silvan in social media posts described her as a 2026 graduate of Warren Easton High School.
Silvan’s family told police she’d been in a tumultuous relationship with Romero. The family also told authorities the two had recently broken up, according to court records.
