Sea ice in the northern hemisphere has likely reached the minimum extent for 2026, though as of September 17 the ice extent in a few Arctic regional seas may not have quite reached the low point for the year. In the unlikely event that the Arctic-wide ice extent drops lower, I’ll update this post.
