Severe thunderstorms and flash flooding concerns are expected across large portions of the United States as a powerful cold front advances eastward from the Northern High Plains and Great Basin.
The weekend is coming to an end, however, the active weather is just getting started. Severe thunderstorms with a significant wind threat will continue across the Northern Plains through tonight, with wind gusts of 60 to 100 mph possible. Heavy rainfall will also persist from Oklahoma to Missouri meanwhile, critical fire weather conditions are expected to continue across the Southwest.
Severe Weather Threat
The most significant severe weather threat will focus on the Northern Plains, where powerful storm systems developing along the boundary between a western U.S. trough and a central U.S. ridge are expected to trigger intense thunderstorms.
