On the other side of the country, the Eastern Pacific sees its hurricane season start a bit earlier on May 15th. It again lasts through the end of November.
2026’s Season May Be Influenced By El Niño
Heading into the season, a major factor looming is that El Niño is likely to develop. Currently, the Climate Prediction Center notes there is a 61 percent chance of El Niño developing between May and July. That chance increases to almost 80 percent from June to August.
