A new study by a University of Vermont professor explores the impact of the F-35 fighter jet noise on surrounding communities. Dr. Richard Single, a graduate school professor, said he was motivated by his own experience to start the study. “My motivation was to quantify the amount of disruption, distraction and discomfort that people experience from the F-35 noise,” he said. Single said he’s experienced disruptions in both his home and classroom. “I’ve had to pause my classes over the years, very often when the F-35s are flying overhead because they’re so loud that the students can’t hear me and they can’t hear each other,” Single said.
