An F-16 Thunderbird jet is now on display in front of Union Local School District, bringing to life an idea that dates back 60 years.
The aircraft did not arrive overnight. The project took years of planning and fundraising, with community-led efforts to bring the jet to Belmont County.
Dedication ceremony chairman Taylore Frasnelly said the effort builds on work that came before the current group. “I know that other groups have tried to make this happen in the past and I hope that now that its finally here it can feel that although they might not be apart of this specific community, this is also their project and their work that made this happen.”
Getting the jet placed was also a challenge. The crane needed for the project was still a question the evening before.
